And how are things in Loughborough?

L’boro, Lufbra, Lovebro, are a couple of the existing ways to write the university where I am studying currently as an Erasmus exchange student. In this town a third of the people is made up by the fifteen thousand students of the university. Loughborough University is not famous for its research but moreover for their sports ambitions. Last 33th years consequetively they won the BUCS (national student sportscompetition) and last year more than 40 students participated in the Olympics in London.

The sportive possibilities at the University were for me one of the reasons to study in England. At Loughborough I have the possibilities to train between athletes which are among the best in the world in athletics. Next to sports I am also busy with academics for which at the moment I am studying the management of water and sanitation in developing countries. During the courses I work together with students aging from 22 to 59 years from countries such as Japan, Nigeria and USA, which have experience in countries like Haiti, Pakistan and South-Sudan. A wide variety of which I can learn a lot.

After three months of living between six thousands students on campus I noticed the biases about Englishmen are true. They always think its summer, as least they dress as such, drinking is about as much alcohol as possible and vomiting is certainly not a crime at our campus. However English students also have good activities such as doing volunteer work and raising money for charity.  Unfortunately this year Loughborough’s students have become famous for other reasons in England. In November a fuss arose about possibly ‘worst youtube video ever’: www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/lsu-naughty-boy-music-video-2655784 Decide for yourself!
