Lin-Lin Chen to become dean of the department of Industrial Design

Lin-Lin Chen, TU/e professor of Design Innovation Strategy, will be the new dean of the department of Industrial Design as of 1 March 2018. She currently is director of education of the master program Industrial Design.

Chen is full professor at TU/e since 2013. Besides she is part-time professor at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. She is founding editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Design, she is vice-president of the International Association of Societies of Design Research, and fellow of the worldwide Design Research Society. She obtained her PhD at the University of Michigan.

“We are pleased that professor Chen will be the new Dean of Industrial Design”, says TU/e rector Frank Baaijens. “Her international experience and reputation put her in an excellent position to guide and lead the future of the department.”

The university board has appointed her as vice-dean, for the period between 1 September 2017 and 1 March 2018, alongside vice-dean Berry Eggen. After that, she will succeed Aarnout Brombacher, who has been dean of the department since 2010. With the appointment of Chen, the department ID becomes the third TU/e department led by a female dean. The appointment is for a four-year period.
