Intro 2018 | Let’s hope those idiots won’t be my parents

That was the first thought that came on Jens’s mind when he saw two people in the Auditorium with fish masks and flippers on their feet. And of course, his fear became reality as Jill and Kilian were going to be his parents for the time being, but they turned out to be less crazy than their gear suggested. And what is the favorite energizer of these 'Swimming Unicorns'? Purple soup of course.

To start with the latter, that’s obviously not a real drink. The group, consisting of students of Sustainable Energy and Psychology and Technology, explains: "In the city we met a group of which everyone was running around calling: purple soup, purple soup. We tried it too, and it turned out to be helpful."

What they do occasionally drink, especially Jens and Joris, who are both still seventeen, is a wild mix of 'Sprite' with water. "And yes, put that Sprite very emphatically between quotation marks", says Jens, who was already more often in Eindhoven, because he and his father are big fans of PSV.

But what gave Jill and Kilian the idea to walk around on flippers the entire intro Monday, not really the easiest footwear for the start of a tiring intro week? No clear answer really from Jill from Nijmegen. She wants to say that they both had pain in their feet on Tuesday morning. "Fortunately, we were allowed to take them off Monday night, because everyone agreed that partying on this kind of footwear would be irresponsible.”

The duo Jill and Kilian are known as Bay Watch to the group. Jill's last name is Bay and according to the kiddos, Kilian is constantly observing her. Cursor is of course discrete enough not to ask directly whether there is a beautiful romance between mom and dad.

There are also some internationals in the group. Finley is from London and has opted for the Brexit to make the switch to the mainland. Switching from trendy, bustling London to the somewhat more softly bubbling Eindhoven, isn’t that a huge contrast? Finley has no problem with it. Moreover, all nice things are nicely concentrated in a small area here in Eindhoven. That is much better to handle than huge London.

How about the name then, 'Swimming Unicorns', how did you come up with that? It turns out to be easy to explain. Jill wore a swimming cap with a unicorn on it and that combined with the flippers soon led to this already legendary group name.
