Top-fermented treasures at Japie's second craft beer festival

Wet ’n Juicy, Skinny Jeans, Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie Quad, Pornstache, Only Goat Can Judge Me, Stigbergets Celestial Tar Conspiracy… Even if craft beers don't top your list of favorite drinks, you might feel tempted to sample them all at Japie's 'Gouden Loper Festival' if only for their names. Last Friday the study association held this event for the second time. The venue was the Flux field.

A light refreshing beer  may be your tipple, or perhaps you can handle a heavier, smokey brew; there was something for everyone on Friday May 24th on TU/e's 'Gouden Loper' (gold strip), as the Groene Loper (green strip) had been dubbed for the occasion. Seven breweries were in the line-up, each of which had brought along a varied selection of special beers.

Cursor's reporter Niels Dusseldorp was on hand and he invited the brewers to pour one of their top-fermented treasures, which he then shared with visitors. You can find out how the beers tasted and whether the TU/e community is harboring any potential zythologists (beer connoisseurs) in his report below.

Last year Japie held its first craft beer festival to mark the thirtieth year of the association's watering hole: the F.O.R.T.
