In Memoriam | Arun Chockalingam

On November 17 our colleague at the Department Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences, Arun Chockalingam, passed away. For over nine years he has fought against brain cancer, but eventually he lost the battle. With his passing away we lose a dear friend and colleague.

Arun inspired many with his passion for Industrial Engineering, and its interface with Finance in particular. On this interface he did pioneering research for which he will be remembered as a scientist.

He received a BSc from Cass Business School in London, and a MSc and PhD from Purdue University in West Lafayette, USA. Arun joined the OPAC group at TU/e on September 1 in 2011. He joined the Supply Chain Finance team, which he turned into the team for the Operations-Finance interface. He had a passion for teaching and was committed to the students he advised for their MSc and PhD projects.

He is survived by his wife Anitha and his 8-year old son Sairam and 4-year old daughter Harini. He will be dearly missed. We express our condolences to Anitha, Sairam, Harini and to Arun’s family and friends. We wish you all strength with this loss.

You can express your condolences in writing at the OPAC group, Floor 4 Noord, Atlas 4.401.

On behalf of TU/e, the board of the Department IE&IS, and the OPAC Group,

Eric van der Geer-Rutten-Rijswijk - managing director

Ingrid Heynderickx  - dean
