Tickets for Lustrum Gala selling fast

The big day is almost upon us: this coming Saturday the Klok building on Strijp-S will open its doors to the smartly dressed guests of the TU/e Lustrum Gala. Of the 3000 tickets, some 2500 have now been sold. The gala was initially planned for December, but had to be postponed due to corona. Vera Wentzel of the gala committee can't wait, “We've been looking forward to this for so long.”

The nine-strong gala committee has used the extra time to iron out the details of the event's organization, tells Vera Wentzel, “As the opening act, we have arranged a cool surprise performance and we're also holding an Instagram campaign. Participants can win special Lustrum Gala bowties – for the ladies, to be worn as a corsage or brooch.” (@tue_lustrumgala)

The committee set itself the task of organizing the biggest TU/e Lustrum Gala ever held. And they are going to pull it off, says Wentzel, a student of Biomedical Engineering who – as well as her gala committee work – is now doing a board year at UniPartners.

“In the last lustrum year, the gala drew roughly 1700 attendees. The Klok building is a big venue and that's why some 3000 tickets are available this time around, 2500 of which have now been sold.” Tickets for the dinner– which will range across the many eateries on Strijp-S – are even sold out, but tickets for the party itself are still available. They cost 58 euros each and include drinks and bites.

It should be a gala for all students; that is the committee's view. Or, rather, for the entire TU/e community, because employees are also welcome. “That's why we have involved as many students as possible: the E.S.C. student band Kordaat is performing, students are serving at the bar, and members of photography association Dekate Mousa will be taking photos,” says Wentzel.

In terms of music, too, it will be an evening for everyone. “A wide variety of music will be performed, and the main act is Mr. Belt & Wezol, an internationally known DJ duo.”

As for Wentzel, roll on Saturday, she says. “My dress is on its hanger, waiting for me to put it on – as committee members, we have had special dresses and suits made in the colors of our house style: dark blue with a lovely tint of dark orange. I can't wait to be standing on the stage and to see all those beautifully dressed people partying.”
