The man was regularly hired by various Fontys institutes and departments in recent years, even after his suspension from KU Leuven in 2018.

A temporary Fontys crisis team has not yet received reports that anyone at the university of applied sciences was aware of the suspension or rape allegation, according to BRON, Fontys’ independent news medium. There have also been no indications that people have felt unsafe in his presence.

The team will now examine how to prevent people with a questionable reputation from being hired by Fontys in the future.

Educational model

At some of its institutes, Fontys uses High Impact Learning that Lasts, an educational model developed by the disgraced Fleming. The executive board is currently evaluating its position on his academic legacy.

The professor was employed by Maastricht University until 2005. According to a spokesperson for the university, there are no known reports of transgressive behaviour from that period.
