Assault incident on campus, TU/e offers students support
There has been commotion among students at Haven residential complex on campus following a sexual assault incident on the Eeuwsel Wednesday night. A 42-year-old man was arrested by the police and is being held for questioning. The police is investigating the incident. Students are being cared for by TU/e and Victim Support.
The police received a report of a suspected sexual assault incident Wednesday evening around 7:30 p.m. on the Eeuwsel in Eindhoven, near residential tower Castor. According to a spokesman, a man had pulled a young woman into the bushes there.
Loud screams from the victim drew the attention of some witnesses, after which the man took off. One of the witnesses went after him and not long after, the suspect, a 42-year-old man from Haaren, was arrested by the police in the area at the direction of witnesses. He is being held for questioning and the police is investigating the incident.
Many people were present at that time near the incident. There was commotion among students at Haven housing complex after the incident in an app group. According to a spokesperson from the university is the victim being supported by the TU/e and Victim Support. “We are shocked and strongly condemn this,” he said.
In a message to the residents of the student flats, the TU/e points out support from student psychologists to whom they can turn in case of questions or concerns. Security will be conducting extra surveillance rounds on the grounds of the residential towers in the coming period.
