TU/e anticipates upcoming train strikes

Because tomorrow, the 9th of September, and next week on Tuesday and Thursday no trains will run in the whole country due to strikes the TU/e has decided to take certain measures with regard to education. This afternoon that message was send by mail to employees and students.

UPDATE : The unions and NS have reached a preliminary agreement. Actions are therefore - at least for now - off the table.

Teachers can decide in consultation with the Program Director if and how teaching will continue tomorrow and next week Tuesday and Thursday. The suggestion is presented to use Week 8 to catch up on the course, to use a previously recorded video lecture, or to stream via Teams and/or a Portable Streaming Kit. Teachers who will be teaching tomorrow in a large room with fixed streaming equipment will be approached today by ESA/Videocolleges if they want to make use of the streaming/recording possibilities. As of tomorrow an inventory will be made for Tuesday.

Portable Streaming kits can be picked up without appointment at the IMS Service Desk in MetaForum. This can be done today until 5:00 pm and tomorrow starting at 8:00 am. There are 40 kits available on a first come first serve basis. Departmental Teacher Supporters can explain to teachers how to use the kits.

Teachers are asked to let students know as soon as possible via Canvas if and how their course will continue. That last group is asked to keep a keen eye on Canvas ‘so you know if the courses you are taking are continuing and in what way you can take them’.

Staff members who are unable to come to work due to the strike, are asked to coordinate with their manager if needed to determine how or where you can do your work.

Who still has questions can send them to info@tue.nl or WhatsApp (06 41683406).
