Hola! This Spanish ‘hello’ welcomed me last week warmly in warm weather. Travelling across Catalonia -based on Barcelona- was my last trip in Europe for this year before saying goodbye to the summer. Though it was rainy and cloudy for a couple of days there, the bright sunny days seemed to supply vitamin D for a whole year. The nice breeze along the coast well supplemented the sun and eliminated the discomfort from the sun’s heat.

From a traveller’s perspective, it seemed to be an ideal low-budget trip to the sea and the mountains at the same time. Seeing through the blue transparent water of the Mediterranean in Costa Brava was such an amazing experience, so was trekking through the white smooth mountains of Montserrat.

The city and old town of Barcelona are very nice and vibrant as well, carrying the rich heritages of the architectural mastermind Antoni Gaudi. But do keep a close eye on your valuables and don’t give opportunity to thieves to spoil your holiday.

The tapas (Spanish snacks) along with ‘Nestea’ also were a nice get away from the Dutch sandwiches and coffee for a few days. I would strongly recommend this trip to all the new international students, especially from outside Europe - looking forward to explore this continent during their study in TU/e.

As I got off the flight at Eindhoven airport, the dark and cloudy sky, cool wind and little droplets of rain depressed me to an infinite extent. The shorter days and sharp fall in temperature were too noticeable for me. Yet I was happy enough to get back all the smiles, friendliness and warmth of the Dutch people around me - which I missed immensely during my holidays abroad.
