Construction beer crate bridge started

In order to succeed in building the longest ‘beer crate bridge’ next Thursday, students of Built Environment have started stacking crates already today. 24-bottle Bavaria crates will be used for the record attempt, and some of the empty bottles will be filled with water from the Dommel for solidity.

If all goes well, by Thursday the connecting structure will consist of three bridges: a 16-meter bridge, a 20-meter one, and an even larger one measuring 24 meters.

TU/e students build first bridge made out of beer crates over water

In April, TU/e students will be attempting to construct the very first beer crate bridge over water. They want the bridge to measure at least 27 meters, which would break the current record held by TU Delft by five meters. The bridge is supposed to be completed by Saturday, April 23 - during the three-day anniversary festival of TU/e.

New record attempt beer-crate bridge building

It belonged to TU/e, then it went to Delft, and now Eindhoven wants it back. Next week Built Environment students will be making another attempt at building the largest ‘arch with a beer-crate bridge’, for which they’ll have to build a bridge of at least 24 meters. The students will be starting their record attempt on the TeMa field next Monday, and expect to have finished their construction by Thursday.
