Chairman Peels: “I’ve weighed my options”

Chairman of the Board dr.ir. Arno Peels doesn’t want to elaborate on why he won’t run for a second term next year. “I’ve considered many, many things”, is the only thing he’s willing to say. Peels will remain chairman until May of 2014, and he says he not yet within sight of a new job.

“It’s been quite the process and it hasn’t been an easy decision. It has been based on professional factors mostly, but I’m reluctant to elaborate on those. I know from experience my words may be misinterpreted, which is why I won’t open up about the matter. People should also realize my job is temporary, and simply ends in nine months’ time. It’s not a permanent contract.”

In a previous press release, Peels already mentioned his decision wasn’t an easy one. ‘Considering the ambitious plans of TU/e, the challenging developments in the academic world, and the inspiring colleagues and workplace, it wasn’t an easy decision. With the implementation of the Strategy 2020 plan, TU/e will enter into a new phase and I’m positive my successor will have a very interesting future ahead of them.’

The Supervisory Board respects Arno Peels’ decision to refrain from running for a second term as Chairman of the Executive Board at TU/e, and will consider a successor as soon as possible.
