Former W-hal could become national heritage site

Part of MetaForum has been nominated for a national heritage status. Minister Jet Bussemaker of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) think the parts of the former W-hal that are still standing are so special they should be preserved. Apart from W-hal, there are 88 other buildings and places from the period 1959-1965, the second phase of the post-war reconstruction, that are in the running towards becoming a national heritage site. The definite list will be published in the fall.

W-hal to become nationally listed building

This afternoon, the W-hal, which in 2012 was transformed to MetaForum, will officially become a nationally listed building. Only last year the Council for Culture delivered a negative opinion, but the building will now still achieve this status nevertheless. The Minister is coming to hand over the sign and the pertinent documents in person – which is quite exceptional.

MetaForum wins first international prize

The MetaForum building landed its first international prize last Friday, September 20. The construction won a LEAF Award in the category ‘Refurbishment of the Year’, one of nine awards categories.

Bussemaker encourages TU/e to stay in touch

Towards the end of her working visit to TU/e today, Minister of Education Jet Bussemaker appealed to businesses. “It’s them who tend to complain about the quality of education, but I’d like to ask businesses to invest more in better education themselves”, said the member of government. The Executive board of TU/e received an open invitation to definitely feel free to stay in touch with her ministry.
