Hajraa moves party and campsite

This year, Hajraa will be moving both the campsite and party of its outdoor tournament (May 23-25) to a new location. In light of construction work on campus, the campsite will be moved to multi-purpose complex De Hondsheuvels. MetaForum will be the new party venue, which is an acoustic improvement.

The new campsite is located between the volleyball courts and Orpheuslaan, on a rugby field. There’s room for approximately three thousand athletic campers, close to the capacity in previous years. Should the campsite prove too small after all, students can pitch their tents next to the running track. After the tournament, Hajraa will decide whether the new location is fit as a future campsite, or if tents are better off on university campus.

The covered entrance of MetaForum will be the new party venue. The organization says the location can hold at least five thousand athletes and party people, similar to the estimated turnout. TU/e and the fire department have agreed to the requested capacity. “It’s easier to distribute the sound at this location”, Chistopher Geelen of Hajraa explains. “In the tent there was always a major difference between standing close to the stage and lingering at the back. MetaForum also allows for a more interesting light show.” The lineup has not yet been confirmed. By way of tradition, the organization usually programs upcoming cover bands and DJs.
