Key handover Flux postponed

The formal handover for the new Flux building that was planned for last Friday has been postponed, as the building does not yet meet the fire safety requirements. A new date for the key handover is to be announced, but it probably won’t affect the plans for moving the new residents (the Departments of Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering).

According to the original plans, the first group was to move into their new ‘quarters’ in Flux this week. Due to the unforeseen postponement, they’ll probably have to complete their work within a shorter amount of time.

The early-bird residents are staff members of Facilities, ICT Services, DH, and faculty who are part of the Flux team. They’ll be taking care of signs, Internet access points, a booking system for rooms, and indispensable student bars, of course.

If all goes according to plan, the first research group SPS-VCA will move from Laplace Building to Flux on December 8. Until then, the building won’t be freely accessible.

On December 18-19, both departmental bureaus will move to Flux. Catering will move into the new premises around that time, too, so the restaurant can open on January 5. If all goes well, the footbridges from Gemini and Spectrum/Cascade to Flux will also be opened to the public on that day. Only after summer, when all the moving madness is a thing of the past, will there be an official opening.

PS. Flux has been reexamined and now meets alle safety requirements. The formal handover is now planned for Friday November 28th.
