Demos close to acquiring monument in city center

Student association Demos is close to buying a listed building at Keizergracht in Eindhoven. The city has issued the environmental permit on March 25. If the other permits are granted and if Demos manages to raise the finding, it will soon be the owner of 130-year-old building De Keizer.

Ever since the association heard it had to leave De Bunker in 2012, it has been searching for a new home in the city center. The villa next to service cinema Zien has room for 510 people. Previously, it has belonged to a wine merchant, Van Lanschot bankers, and the German Consulate.

The building is listed as a monument, but renovations are possible according to architectural research. Sprengers has indicated TU/e backs the potential purchase. TU/e will probably dispose of De Bunker by late 2016, after reconstruction of Potentiaal has been completed. All cultural associations will then move to Potentiaal, and all social association will have found a home in the city center by then, hopefully.
