TINT bids farewell to De Kapel

Student community TINT has bid farewell to De Kapel. This complex, where TINT has been holding events since 2014, has been acquired by DELA, who will be using this 'student chapel' as a venue for ceremonies. Cursor took at seat at the very last gathering, held on Wednesday evening in the impressive building.

As an organization intended to hold events with a focus on culture and personal development, TINT grew out of the Eindhoven Student Church (ESK). TINT's doors are open to all comers. Since last week, TINT has been its own foundation, independent of the ESK foundation. Margit van Tuijl, life coach at TINT, describes this as a logical step. "We feel it is important to give a clear message that everyone is welcome to join us. When you are affiliated with a church, there can be some confusion on that point."

TINT hopes to start using the spiritual/philosophical and cultural rooms on the lowest floors of Luna as soon as possible, not that construction on this campus building has yet finished. The Executive Board has asked TINT to present plans for the continued development of its events program.

"The university is of the opinion that students at TU/e should be given the opportunity to explore matters of a spiritual and philosophical nature, including religious contemplation. This is in addition to the study, housing, sport and cultural opportunities we provide for them," says board member Jo van Ham. "All kinds of associations, such as Ichthus, VGSEi and the like, can organize activities in this sphere. In this context, TU/e finds the TINT events program very interesting."

Until its relocation, TINT will continue to organize events, most of which will be held in Het Jongerenhuis - a communal meeting place for refugees and students. In addition, TINT is organizing a number of gatherings in cooperation with, among others, Studium Generale, Cosmos and Eindhoven Student City.
