Clarity over allocation of board grants to sport associations
Together with the Student Sports Center (SSC), Eindhoven Student Sport Federation (ESSF) has compiled extensive criteria governing the allocation of board grants to the sport associations. This comes in response to the associations' cry for greater clarity. These grants were last divided among the associations years four years ago. This coming academic year will see little change in how the funds are distributed; the associations who currently have a grant, will keep it. Climbing association ESAC en golf club De Club, however, will join the list of recipient associations.
Some general criteria were compiled back last year by the Education and Student Service Center when it produced a document about association policy, and that provided a good basis for the sports center's document. The result is an overview including seven criteria drawn up in consultation with the director of the Student Sports Center (SSC).
The criteria include, for example, the personal development of association members, the promotion of SSC and TU/e to the wider world, the added value for the TU/e community and Eindhoven, and the size of an association. Other criteria are necessary support, professionalism and how the board spends its time. The system's creators have linked all this to a points system. In addition, bonus points can be won for various aspects, such as achieving important media coverage and adding to the academic curriculum.
The most striking change is that student climbing association ESAC and golf club De Club will be getting a board grant, whereas it did not before. Fellenoord, Pusphaira, Hajraa, Hajraa buto, Totelos, Thêta, Asterix and Nayade will keep their grants. No sport association will lose its grant.
In total, the sport associations will be distributing among their members 207 months' worth of board grants. Associations with few to no points can get assistance from the Student Sports Center - only not in the form of a board grant.
