Staunchly Dutch oak signals plantation of trees Green Strip

Last week the plantation of trees on the Green Strip was begun with the planting of a staunchly Dutch pedunculate oak of 7.8 tons. Next week it will be followed by some eight other oaks, some of which weigh as much as fourteen tons. Oaks of that size are seldom delivered in Europe. In stage one of the Green Strip a total of thirteen big oaks will be planted, four of which are huge; huge in this context means that they are around twenty meters high when planted and weigh some fourteen tons. The whole operation, including the transport, planting and maintenance of the trees, will cost approximately € 150,000.
