Loy van Beek

Loy van Beek (25), former student of Mechatronics and Artificial Intelligence in Breda and at Utrecht University who graduated via TU/e, and currently works at Sioux in Eindhoven. Programmer of Tech United’s AMIGO robot and member of the RoboCup 2013 promo team.

What’s the best thing about the RoboCup? If AMIGO manages to clean a room and serve drinks, I’ll be happy. For that to work, AMIGO will have to recognize objects and faces, pick up things, know where everything goes, and remember who’s who.

What’s most stressful for you this week? AMIGO competes in several challenges, but there’s only one AMIGO available for testing more than eight challenges. The deadlines are very strict, and if it doesn’t work right then and there, we’ll have wasted months of work.

Who should definitely come visit the event in June? Anyone who’s interested in the future, because it’s invented partly by RoboCup participants!
