MetaForum wins ‘Gulden Feniks’ for best transformation

TU/e’s MetaForum building has won the ‘Gulden Feniks’ (golden phoenix) in the category Transformation. The news was announced at the Amsterdam real-estate fair PROVADA just now on Tuesday afternoon, June 4. Eindhoven landed another award as well: Strijp-S won in the category Area Transformation.

A total of 92 projects were submitted for the 2013 ‘Gulden Feniks’. ‘The number-one prize for existing stock’ is awarded by the National Renovation Platform every year. Ten entries were nominated in one of the categories Area Transformation, Renovation, and Transformation. MetaForum, designed by Ector Hoogstad Architects, was nominated in the latter category along with the Amsterdam Rembrandt Park Building and the Den Bosch Museum Quarter.

MetaForum had already received an honorable mention at the Building of the Year contest, and it has been nominated for the LEAF Award of the Leading European Architects Forum, an international prize that will be awarded in September. MetaForum is one of six nominated projects in the category Refurbishment.
