De Wielen and road toward pond accessible for pedestrians and cyclists only

De Wielen, the road from TNO via Helix and Gemini to MetaForum, has been closed off to all motorized traffic since Thursday, March 12. All traffic headed for Vertigo, Zwarte Doos, Matrix, Gaslab, Helix, Athene, and TNO will have to enter campus at TNO. The shortcut past the pond, from the Auditorium toward Vertigo, will be closed off permanently as well. It will remain accessible for pedestrian and cyclists, however.

The construction zone is part of the second phase of the development of the Green Strip. During the first phase, the western part of De Wielen has already been dismantled and turned into a pedestrian area. Over the next month, all of De Wielen will undergo the same changes. With the shortcut to Vertigo being blocked (north of campus), motorized traffic can only enter campus via TNO and the parallel road alongside Dorgelolaan south of campus.

To compensate for the loss of parking space at De Wielen, there will be a temporary parking lot behind Matrix, which should be completed by next month.
