The reason for the strike is the government’s planned cuts to social security. Although most of these cuts have already been scrapped, the unions say the concessions do not go far enough. They have therefore decided to proceed with the planned strikes, news agency ANP reports.

According to an NS spokesperson, no replacement transportation will be provided. NS advises travelers to arrange alternative transportation themselves.

NS expects regular service to resume on Thursday, but advises travelers to closely monitor all travel information that day.

Regional public transportation 

Regional public transportation workers are also on strike. Arriva trains will not run, and there will be fewer buses. Transport operator Hermes, the company behind the red Bravo buses in Eindhoven, says on its website that it does not yet know which buses will and will not run on Wednesday. Hermes therefore advises travelers to check the journey planner as close to departure as possible.
