How did the name of the house come about?
“Alfa beer!” Vince Evers, third-year student of Applied Physics at TU/e beams with pride. Not only did Evers come up with the name, but he also organized a trip to the Alfa brewery in Schinnen.
How important is romance in this house?
“Vince and I have both dated girls who used to live here”, says Fontys students of Industrial Engineering Jorik van den Berg. “Sometimes we advise against it, since the girls both left”, he laughs. Renske van de Hengel points to Jorik Meijers and herself in answer to the question whether a romance is going on right now. “No, I’m not scared”, Jorik assures us.
Recipe: Pasta pesto (serves seven)
Pasta pesto and pasta bolognese are the two top choices when it comes to dinner at Alfa House. Rens Smal, second-year graduate student of Sustainable Energy Technology at TU/e, used to eating meat, veggies and potatoes, is today’s chef.
A little while later, he and his housemates (three girls, three boys, most of them Fontys students) are in the windowless common area, plates on their laps.
Brown 500 grams of diced chicken breast in butter.
Add two diced zucchinis and 400 grams of cherry tomatoes, sliced in halves. Add 500 grams of sliced mushrooms.
Add almost two full jars of green pesto while stirring continuously.
In the meantime, prepare approximately 900 grams of pasta until al dente, following the instructions on the packaging.
Add a bag of rocket to the sauce.
Strain the penne and mix the pasta and the sauce.
Enjoy!
