Atlas almost ready for occupants

Atlas is a hive of activity, having been delivered by the contractor Van Wijnen last Friday. From now until the Christmas vacation, the catering services will move into the building, new furniture will be installed and any outstanding issues will be resolved. On Monday January 7th, employees of the eight TU/e services will be able to take possession of Atlas, settling into their brand spanking new workspace.

After the TU/e services, starting January 8th the departments of Industrial Design and Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences will move in phases to Atlas. On February 4th students will be taught for the first time in the building. The grounds surrounding Atlas will be ready a little later: in early March they must be completely finished.

This will bring to an end the large-scale renovation of the Main building, which during the transformation has already been renamed Atlas. In June 2014 TU/e's Supervisory Board gave its approval to the remodeling plans, followed in November of that year by the authorization of the municipality of Eindhoven. The development of the Main building finally got underway in mid-January 2015. Four years later the first people can work once again in Atlas.

On Thursday March 21th, Atlas will be officially opened. This will be combined with the event held to mark the departure of Executive Board member Jo van Ham.
