The May Drinking Dilemma

30/04/2019

Picture this. It’s 00:30 on a Thursday. You’ve made it to Stratum. You’ve been to a borrel. You’ve had a pizza or a kebab for dinner. You’ve lost about €40 on radjedraaien (spinning the wheel) in the Kix, and you’ve had an ample amount of drinks. That one friend of yours, who you know for sure will miss the lecture tomorrow morning walks to the bar and shouts ‘SHOTS’. What would you do?

You are now forced to make a decision that will affect the rest of the evening and your ability to study tomorrow. The evening could go two ways from this point: you could go naar de klote or you could take it easy, dwindle down and go to bed at a reasonable hour.

This is what the entire month of May is about in terms of the insane amount of activities that you could and want to join. You will have to choose which activities you will go to, which ones will you take it easy and will have to decide every time how you will finish the evening. Plus what should you make of your courses in the madness that is the month of May? I’m afraid that even I, with my 3.75 years of experience as a student, do not have the solution to this equation.

While I’m sure that the solution lays in a cocktail of time management and self-control, the fun sometimes lies in realizing how much you’re screwed and taking the metaphorical shot (and perhaps another one after that) anyways. I must say that I am truly looking forward to it!
