Social distancing-free lustrum gala centers around hero theme

Lustrum gala 2021 needs to be the biggest lustrum gala ever, that much is certain. Mark your calendar for Saturday 11 December, because that’s when students can enjoy a carefully prepared lustrum event centered around the theme of heroes.

Lustrum gala 2021 is going to take place in its original form no matter what, without social distancing. The gala will be postponed to spring 2022 in case the event can’t take place as planned in December of this year due to corona. “But we expect that it will take place as planned,” co-organizer responsible for promotional activities Vera Wentzel says. She’s quite excited already but she can’t share too many details at this point. “Some things need to remain a surprise, but we promise to present several major promotions this year.”

The location has already been determined, but that too has to remain a secret for now, unfortunately. Wentzel: “What I can say is that it’s a location for parties on a large scale somewhere in the Eindhoven region. Everything is easily accessible, so students don’t need to worry about driving home or cycling through a scary forest late at night. We will offer tickets in packages, so that students have a choice between tickets for just the gala, for the gala with overnight accommodation, gala with dinner, or all three. The only thing students have to do is enjoy themselves.” Ticket prices aren’t known yet, but Wentzel promises that tickets will be affordable, although students need to realize that this event is a gala and not an evening in a bar. “We do everything we can to keep it affordable, that’s why we are busy with sponsoring. Ticket sale for the event opens during the Intro. The exact moment will be announced on Instagram (@tue_lustrumgala).”

TU/e’s theme for this year’s lustrum, Heroes Like You, will also be reflected during the gala festivities. “It will still be a classy event, naturally,” Wentzel says, “but you’ll see that link several times throughout the evening. There will be drinks and cocktails with names of heroes and in hero colors, for example, and the theme will also feature in the promotional activities for the event.” The committee photo above is a taste of what’s to come.
