CLMN | Green campus and the black box feeling

01/10/2012

This is my introductory column. It also comes with the new beginning for me here at TU/e. However - the second beginning. I am not a student anymore, but will stay here for the following two years getting postmaster trainings at the Industrial Design department. This new start made me think of the previous student years and the connection that I’ve made with our university. Did you ever think what university is for you? Besides the educational institution, of course!

For many international students TU/e is the place where they maintain their social circles and enjoy the possibilities to live Dutch student life or international student life in a very Dutch setting. Moreover we are provided with beautiful, green and restorative campus (still improving, though) and facilities, such as the sport center, where one can release most stresses of the day or hang out with a couple of friends in a cozy canteen after 40 minutes of tough spinning.

Besides that, throughout the year we can enjoy light festivals, photography exhibitions, extremely cool concerts organized in Gaslab (with actually very well-known performers), nice movies in the black, but not dart, box and many many more other things.

So, at the end when yesterday I entered the campus after a couple of days break, I felt that warm feeling which visits me every time I get coffee in the Auditorium and sit outside enjoying people, sun (even through the clouds and rain) and being a part of TU/e community. I smile. And what do you think university is for you?
